Birthday Blooms

Let's talk friend to friend!
Close friends are truly life's treasures.  Sometimes they know us better than we know ourselves with gentle honesty, they are there to guide and support us, to share our laughter and our tears, their presence reminds us that we are never really alone.
Everyone has a friend during each stage of life. Those friendships take us by the hand and reminds us we are not alone in our journeys.  Treasure those friends and moments....

Birthday Blooms

This morning's card is the pretty new set Birthday Blooms, perfect for water coloring.  Have you checked out the new watercolor pencils?  It's like coloring with crayons.  Just color in the images and with a blender pen or a aqua painter add the water and you are a pro!

To get the darker shading I use a matching marker and color near the center of the flower.

Look at these beauties!

Starbucks Cookie Straws

Anyone a fan?  they used to sell these cookie straws at Starbuck's. You could buy them single or in a can.  Then all of a sudden they were gone.   Well......I found them of all places at Costco.  Really good price too, the whole tin for $9.98 and you get 25 cookie straws.
They aren't coffee flavored, they are a wafer with dark chocolate inside.  Did I mention that they are super delish?

Of course I had to package them pretty.

Then they had to be put in a Rae Dunn mug for gifting.
Starbucks + Rae Dunn=  a win!!!

Happy Camper

It's hard to be a happy camper on a monday morning.  But put on a smile, get cute and enjoy your monday by getting creative!
This cute little camper is from the You're Sublime stamp set.
I used the Blushing Bride ink to color in the camper and added crystal effects to give it that shiney look.
What's going to make you happy this monday morning?

Happy Good Friday

Happy Good Friday!
Do you like all the trending adult coloring books?
There suppose to bring you peace and create calm in your life.
Well,  I was playing with the new line art stamp set Birthday Blooms and decided to try and make a line art cross page for Good Friday.
  Peace and comfort right there!
May your faith in God bring peace to your heart, this good friday and ALWAYS!

How to do this:
Take a piece of light weight vellum and cut yourself two strips of 1" pieces.  Use a removable adhesive to place it down on your cardstock.  Now take the large flower stamp (if you do not have this stamp, then see if you have something in your stockpile of stamps (hahaaa!)  that would work as well and using a Stazon black ink (which is permanent ink) stamp the flower around your paper cross.
Once finished, remove the vellum cross and there you have it.
Now get out markers, or blender pens or an aqua painter or even colored pencils and color away.
I really did have good intentions of making this a download for you, but time got away with me.  I may try and upload it for you so you can just print it off and color away.   check back!

Easter Decor

Easter is on it's way!
Have you got your Easter decor up yet?
Above is just one of the little vignette's I have around the house.

My girls and I took a trip to the University of Washington Quad yesterday to see the beautiful cherry blossoms in full bloom.
Well, we just missed it.  Most of the blooms have completed their beauty.  It didn't disappoint with the Camilla bushes and the tulip trees.  Here are a few of my fav. - enjoy!

Hey, Chick

This past friday was my Hey, Chick creative class so I thought I would share with you a few of the things we made.

Since I couldn't find any chalkboard eggs, I purchased some plastic easter eggs and some chalkboard spray paint and sprayed them all.
I had to do more than 30, so I went slow.  You want to paint them an old bed sheet or paper so that you can easily turn them over to spray the opposite sides.  The cover nicely and are easy to paint.
Since the cute white Stampin Up! egg carton's were sold out I had to go to the net to find these cuties.  I found them on Amazon, 25 for 31.00.  They have an adorable chicken sticker on the front of them that match perfectly with the Hey Chick stamp set!  score!

The next project was a Succulent egg garden.  For this one I used egg cartons that I had been saving as I wanted a natural look.  I also saved brown eggs for a while!  We ate a bunch!
You tap the top of the egg with a table knife and then peel it back so that just a 1/4" of the egg is gone.  Rise them out and let them dry.  Once dry, fill with potting soil.
They are very hardy and don't require much watering at all.  We added the moss to the other empty spots.   Super easy and caute!

Here are the cards we made.  I did find these fun designs on Pinterest.   This stamp set has to be my one of my all time favs!

Druken party chicken?   I think so!

This is the last project they made,  chicken notecards.  I used 4 x 6
packs of index cards and cut them in half.  Since they are lined they look great as little note cards.  The chickens are embossed in white on black cardstock and attached with a glue gun to the clothepins.

My May creative class is forming if you have every thought about trying a creative class!  Keep an eye out for the date, it will the first week in May

Making up some more Easter treats.

Look at this little chickie's face!  too cute

What kind of things do you like to make for Easter?

Hobnail Glass

Well..... an inexpensive version of hobnail glass.
When I am out and about I am always looking for items for the events I hold.  This time I found 10 of these "hobnail' clear glass vases at Michaels marked down to a dollar. Wooohooo!
I got out my white spray paint and went to town.

I love the new look of succulent gardens, so I went out to my chick and hens garden and planted them in one of the hobnail painted vases.

The other vase I filled with some beautiful spring tulips.
I love the fresh spring look of the faux hobnail vases.
Keep your eye out when your out and about shopping for decor items you can alter.  A lot of things I find might not be the color that matches my decor, but you can always paint the item based on what type of material it is.

Wooden Cross

I was doing some winter cleanup in the yard last week as it has finally been somewhat warm enough and the ground thawed out enough to even think about being in the yard when I came across these amazing twisted branches.
I found quite a few and then remembered last fall the neighbors decided to cut down a bunch of trees before the fall wind storms began.  One was a large fir that has a kiwi tree wrapped around the base and branches.  They cut the kiwi down.  These twisted branches had to have been from the kiwi.
Anywho..... my creative mind went into high gear.

Some of the branches had moss on them and some more twisted than the other.  I decided what a beautiful cross it could become with Easter just around the corner.

I ended up making quite a few and then decided to
go back out in the yard and find smaller twigs to create smaller crosses for my women's bible study group.

I love this;
you might be trash to them, but your worth the cross according to Him.  Rest in those beautiful words.

Best Birds

Well now,  the Best Birds and Swirly Birds have collided with the little treat box.   I put the nest around the window opening of the box and added the bird and flowers.

I put a real blown out dyed egg inside the box for fun and added
some chocolates too.

The eggs are the Dove coconut creme eggs that I showed a week ago.  Gotta get yourself some,  they are delicious!
