Mini Starbuck's Cups

These mini Starbuck's cups are available in the shop
@2340 West Newton
What can you use them for?
I absolutely LOVE when you send me photos of what you use and decorate items from my shop in your lives.
Below you will see one way one of my customers
used the mini Starbuck's cups

She held a Puppiccino party for her lil' pup Izzy
Maybe you know, maybe not, but Starbuck's does
puppiccinos for your dogs when you go thru the drive thru!
She wanted to recreate them for her puppy party and
ordered them from my shop and sent me these pics!

Isn't little Izzy a cutie?
Other ways customers have used the cups are for baby photo shoots,
playhouses for their kiddos, coffee bars and cups filled with treats with a  coffee card.   How fun!
Again, I love seeing the creativity with these cups!

Another "Faux Shiplap Wall

Well, at this point no walls are safe!
I am at it again adding another little sweet spot of a
shiplap wall to this rather small "Harry Potter" like
closet we have at our cabin that I've transformed into
this cute little space for people to sleep in.
(yes! people love to sleep in here!)
You can see in the above rather not so good photo
I took of the plain wall.

And here it's all done!
If you missed how I did this technique the post is right

It is done with a black sharpie!
Yes, you read that right.
If you head over to the post above you can see
how easily you can transform you space to look
like you installed shiplap.
It truly looks great and I was surprised how
nice it looks.
It really added to this little space making
the room come together and balance it out.
I hope you'll find a wall you can try it out on.
(also,  I have had many questions as to whether
my walls are textured.  They are, and the sharpie
glides right over it just fine)

Faux Shiplap

It's been a few days since I've posted.
We decided to head over to the mountains for a few days
and just take it easy while working remote.
I decided to try my hand on this wall with what's
called "faux shiplap"
What is it?
Well, simply put, using a black sharpie and
drawing lines directly onto your walls!
The wall above is the wall I decided to try it on.

NOTE:
If you would like to see the video on how to do this easy technique
"faux shiplap" head over to my instagram account which you can
visit via my blog home page.
My handle is - julieannepitta
Go to my highlights and under "faux shiplap" is the video
on step by step instructions.

What you need is a black sharpie,
a piece of cardboard cut at 6" x 8"
a pencil
a long level
and some of the existing paint of the color
of your existing wall for touch ups.

Start at the top of your wall using the cardboard
piece that you cut at 6" x 8".
Holding the cardboard to the wall, and using your pencil, mark
the wall every 6" all the way down to the bottom of the wall.

Once done marking, take your long level and sharpie,
make sure that you look in the bubble in the center
of the level to be sure your line will be straight, hold the
level in place with one hand while you lightly draw a black
line all the way across the wall to the end of the level.
If your wall is longer than the level then you will continue
the same line continuing where you left off.

You can see how I am holding my level, making sure to put
pressure on it so it doesn't slip while I draw my line.

Here it is all done and boy I wish you could see it in person
because I tell you, it seriously looks like I put up real shiplap!
The results are stunning and I have to say I just may have done
a few more walls.   No walls are safe!

Here are a few more shots of the space I "shiplaped"
Stay tuned for me to show you where else I did this.
I hope you give this a try! If you find you don't like it,
you can always just paint over it.

One thing to share, one of my lines just didn't look good to me, so I painted over it and redid it.
Don't be afraid if you have a slip of the pen or a line that doesn't look like you would have liked.
Take your existing wall paint color
and  a small brush and paint over your errors if any.
  Easy to fix!
Have fun!  I hope you try this!

Towels

Well hello monday morning....
How was your weekend?
Mine was busy with family and sunshine.
Seems like when we get sun in the pnw everything else
gets put on hold and outside we go!

But I wanted to share some of the newer kitchen towels
I have added to my Etsy Shop-
2340 West Newton
Ever wonder why I named it this?
The name of my Etsy shop is the address of the home
I grew up in in Magnolia, Wa
When I started my shop and decided on the name,
I really wanted to honor my Mom and Dad and
the short years we had in this home.
My memories were good ones and
although life changed drastically when I turned
13 I hold onto the special times that I remember there.

This is the perfect towel during our pandemic!
And this one too,
anyone need a refill on their mimosas these days?
All the towels can be found in my shop

Come take a look at what's new for some great
gift ideas whether it's for a bridal shower,
wedding gift, birthday or housewarming.
There's something for everyone!

Country Home

It's finally the weekend!
I pulled out the Country Home stamp set again and made a few
more super easy cards with this set.
This photo below shows you how I made three different card styles, all the same stamp.

All three cards have background paper that was printed vellum
which is a light weight almost translucent paper.
I just stamped the vintage pitcher on white card stock
and used stampin write markers to add just a hint of color
to the arrangement.

This one below with the buffalo plaid background
I didn't even color it in,  just let left it all natural

Have you been creative during our stay at home order?
I've been trying to share with you some simple ideas
to get creative in your own home.
Hopefully you have tried a few!

Country Home

Taking a little break from the diy's to get back to
some cards to share with you.
This cute vintage pitcher is from the Country Home
stamp set.

The background is a piece of vellum paper which is a paper that is
transparent and stamped with images.

I used stampin write markers to color
the flowers.  There is not much color
in this neutral card,  I love the simplicity of it.

Indoor light redo

This is my entry way and the light above was originally
silver tone.  I really wanted to add a little touch of black
in the space and thought having the light black would be
a perfect addition.

This is what it looked like before I painted it.

I found this Krylon Matte black
spray paint.

Here it is with two coats of the matte black paint
on it.  Love how it turned out!
Nice addition without having to spend
any money on a new light when the
one I had looks great.

Here it is up close.
Look what a little paint can do!
Nice update at a fraction of the cost.
You can also do this to faucets,
door handles, etc.
If you've thought about updating things in your
home and want to do it at a fraction then spray painting
the item is the best way to go.
It's an inexpensive way to update your home
without buying new pieces and using what you have already.
Give it a try!
Do you have anything you want to update?

Faux Mini Cakes

A few posts back I showed you the larger faux cake I made.
Well I had a small 2 1/4" x 6" styrofoam piece that made me
think to make a smaller version of the large cake.
Insert these "mini" cakes.

You can view my original post HERE
to see how to make these "faux cakes"
The process with be the same for any size cake
you choose to make.

I use these cakes for wedding decor and events,
right now they are sitting on my counter.
You could use them in your kitchen/home decor.

To decorate the cakes I used artificial leaves or what they call
"picks" from the craft store.  You can use any greens you have especially for the smaller mini cakes as they only need a few
little greens on top of them.
You can see in the picture above on each top of the mini cakes I used different greens on each one so that you can see how different ones look.
The roses are made from paper using a big shot die, but if you don't have the die, these can be made by hand.  I will be posting how
to make those on my next post.
Something to look forward to!
