New's Year's!

s

Getting ready to ring in the new year!  we are enjoying some family time away in the mountains, no snow this year, except up high so we will have to find it!
Here is a quick card and candy favor for new year's that I tried to match with my vingette from days earlier.

The favor is made with the Oval aceent die tied at the top with our silver ribbon and a black glimmer brad.  I curled the ribbon and then stamped the 2014 from the Morning Post numbers stamp set.
The black little banner reads Happy New year.

New Years Eve Vingette and Turkey soup

Good saturday morning all!
Do you have a lot of left over turkey hovering in your refrigerator?  Me too!  I wanted to share this turkey noodle soup recipe that I have with you.  It is a bit  thicker that your traditional type, but I love it that way!  It blends together  some unique spices,
don't let it scare you off, it is AH-mazing!

Turkey Soup Recipe:
2 cups of celery diced
2 cup of diced carrots
1 leek, just the white part chopped
2 cups of turkey stock
2 bags of frozen Reames egg noodles
2 cups of water, I used less for a more creamy soup
3 T of flour
1/4 t of ground ginger
1/4 of curry powder
1/2 t of cinnamon
1 T of soy sauce
2 T of hot sauce

Saute carrots, celery and leeks with just a spray of olive oil.
Add turkey stock and spices and stir evenly.  Bring to a boil, then turn heat down and let simmer.   Whisk in flour and add turkey meat and noodles and let simmer for 45 mins.
Absolutely delish!!!!!
Leave a comment if you try it,  want to know what you think!

I wanted a little New year's eve decor out, so I scanned for ideas online.   I loved this idea I found with the faux clock.
I used chalkboard acrylic paint and painted an old charger I had laying around.  I used our new Stampin Up! chalkboard pen to make the numbers in the middle, but used regular chalk to draw the circle and the border around the clock.

I looked through my ribbon  stash and found this ribbon that was actually for Halloween and tied it around the champagne glasses and candle, then added the silver glimmer stars that I punch out.

The champagne "cooler" is a vase that I decorated with the same ribbon.  I cut out the label by using the Deco Label die for the Big shot and added our silver glimmer brads and stamped 2014.
Accomplished!  a little New Year's Eve decor without spending any money!!!!

Products Used:
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Silver Glimmer paper
Stamp Set- Any number stamp set with do (basic black ink)
Accessories:  chalkboard pen, ribbon of your choice, star punch, silver glimmer brads, deco label die, acrylic chalkboard paint

I just added googlie eyes, red pompoms, brown pipe cleaners and ribbon.
Also a fun and inexspensive little gift to make are these cute snowmen gum.   Buy a pack of trident gum (there's two packs in one package) for a dollar.  Use an orange and black sharpie to create the faces on the gum.  Have fun drawing the faces!

Card Holder

How about using the Card Base Pop and Cuts die for the big shot to make this 3 x 3 card holder.  Below are the cards I made to go inside.  These are the Santa beard cards that I made to go inside.
I posted the how to on the Santa beard HERE
Below are the directions on how to make the card holder.

Cut your cardstock at 4 1/4" x 9 and run it through the Card Base Pop and Cuts Die.  Punch the one end with the scallop punch.  Then score the cardstock at 4 1/2" and then at 5" tne again at 7 3/8" then fold all pieces together to make your holder.  I closed the holder off just by tying the Wild Wasabi ribbon around it to hold the cards in place.  Then decorate.

Birch Ornaments and Christmas decorI

Decking the halls and walls around my home this week.  Enjoying all the preparations for the holiday.  Remember the birch disks I blogged for Thanksgiving?  Well, I had many disks left over so I decided to stamp on them and used them to decorate our tree.
I used the deer from the stamp set Warmth & Wonder and the Soft Suede classic ink pad.
After 8 years of the same tree decor, I changed it up this year by adding outdoor elements.  I added owls, pussy willows, moss balls, snow capped pine cones, birch ornaments and birch wood, pine
cone lights, battery operated candles and burlap ribbons.
I LOVE how it turned out!

I found these LED operated lanterns at Target,  they are just awesome!

Here is the Lantern all lit up......

I hope you are enjoying decking the halls and walls with your favorite traditional decorations.
