Lavender Propagating

Do you love lavender too?
I have had so much fun with all 5 of my lavender plants
and even added a new variety this year, a WHITE one!
Who knew?  I was at a local lavender farm and they have pink and white variety.  Had to grab one.

I found out from the owner of the lavender farm that you can easily propagate lavender bushes from your existing plants.
I did not know how easy this was.
Right after you plants are almost done blooming for the season you can cut as many stems as you'd like to propagate with.
Make sure and cut any bloom of purple off the top, but
cut from the very bottom of the plant.
Once you have your clippings you fill a jar with water and
set them in the water being sure to have all the green off the bottom of
the stems.  Look at my picture below.

See the little starts on the stem already?
So excited and hope this works once I move them into the garden!
I have posted many times about all the things I love to make with lavender so it will be great to have an increase in my lavender garden.
You can also propagate any of your herbs in your garden too~
Chat for another time......
Happy monday!

Painted fall leaves

Hi friends!
Well,  I am all over the place!
Summer, Halloween and now fall!
I have neutral tones in my living room with a navy accent so when I was at Hobby Lobby I found a package of navy and brown leafs that I thought would be fun to paint with chalk paint so that the colors shows through just slightly.

Here are the leaves,  pretty colors.
I think navy is going to be THE fall color this year.

I add just a little bit of glue to them and waited for them to
get tacky before I painted them with chalk paint.
You are adding the glue so that when you paint the chalk paint on the leaves it creates the paint to crack.

You can also use Elmer's glue if you have that on hand.
Be sure and use a brush to spread the glue over the leaves.
Then wait til they are dry and slightly tacky.
Let dry....
Now enjoy!

I added mine to my table vingette with some candles
and dried grass from my yard.

You can see just a hint of the color thru with white paint.

Be prepared,  if you have followed me for long you
know I LOVE fall!

You can see the blue on the top leaf and the brown on the bottom.
Give it a try!
Also good tip,  Dollar Tree has bags of fall colored leaves for just $1.25.  These were at Hobby Lobby for $4.99 with 40% off.
Still good price.

Halloween Crow

Well this may be premature, but I was in the Dollar Tree
today and found these metal crow tree topper.
The wood rounds can be found there to, but it's a hit or miss.
Michael's has them regularly.
The crows are so cute and spooky that I had to pick them up.

Up close and personal,  isn't it cute!

So, you need the crow, a wood round and some spanish
moss, scissors and a glue gun.

Start by using your glue gun and adhering the crow to the
wood round.  Once in place start to add your spanish moss to
finish off the space between the round and the crow.

Like this,  you can add as much as you like. My goal
was to have the moss reached to the crow's feet.
I searched through my Halloween stamps and found
this "spooky" stamp set which looks good with the crow.

All done and VERY easy to make and low budget.
Run, don't walk to get your hand on these crows.
I know it's a bit early, but it's always fun to get a
little excited for Halloween.

Fabric bags

Hello!
Went to visit my bff in Spokane and she graciously showed and taught me how to make these adorable fabric bags she has been making.
Now, let me say, I do know how to sew, but my mad math skills and measuring techniques are not my strong suit, so this challenged me!

We took a little trip to Hobby Lobby to find some fabric to sew the bags with.  We found so many beautiful patterns and colors.
The above material has bee's and beehives.  So sweet.

This is another, the pattern she had me use was quite
easy to follow although I had my own challenges with measuring!

These little bags hold a lot,  you can put a flower or plant in it to gift,
or candies, and or any type of gift you can think of.

I'm a fall girl, so this fabric spoke to me, so pretty and whimsical.
I filled these mini bags with chocolate.
You can imagine the possibilities are endless.

They just keep getting better......

Which is your favorite?

and another.....
I think all and all I made 20 little bags total.
Definitely kept me on my toes with paying attention to the small details of sewing but also so fun try something new.
Do you sew?  do you have a fun bag pattern to share?
I would love to hear what you like to sew.

Girl's weekend

Well, that's a wrap on a fun-filled weekend!
It started off with us gals heading to Birch Bay
in Washington.
I grew up coming here and although the years have past it holds the same charm and beauty as always.

The sunsets here are the most beautiful orangey, peachy colors.
This was a girlfriend's getaway weekend to celebrate one of out girlfriend's birthday.

and THIS!!!  these sunsets are unreal.

The crew......

Headed off to Canada to the Capilano Suspension Bridge
for a BIG adventure.
Yes!  we did it and survived!
It was a surprise and little did I know two of my friends
are fearful of heights!  But they persevered!

Happy faces that they survived!!!

More adventures through the elevated suspension tree houses!
It's a must people!  Check it out!
