Halloween boxes

So excited for Halloween to be here.
I had so many of these empty little boxes left from
this month's Paper Pumpkin and decided to give them
a Julie twist.

These are the boxes,  they came in orange, black and white
and you just had to fold and assemble them.
They do not have tops, but have a cover to wrap around them.
Instead of using the covers that came with them I went into my
retired Halloween stash of dsp to find any that might fit.
I cut the belly wrap 3" x 8" and wrapped it around the boxes.

Here is the first one.
The dsp is retired, can't rememer the name of it.
Both the stamps are from this month's Paper Pumpkin

This second one's dsp is also retired.
The stamp is from this month's Paper Pumpkin,
I used a bat punch to punch out two bats.

This dsp too is retired.
I just looked through all my paper to see what I have
that I could use.
The witch punch is current and available in the mini
catalog.

You can fill these up with all kinds of different goodies to
gift away.  Aren't they cute?
I have more to share as I couldn't stop making them!
Stay tuned!

Masculine cards

Happy wednesday!
I am always looking for ideas for simple masculine cards for birthdays and decided to make these easy two.

I found this dsp in my retired stash and thought what a great background for any numbered birthday.
I just happen to need a 30 and 40th birthday.

I mean how simple is this....  stamp a 30 and a little celebration salutation.

and the 40th one....
If you don't have the numbered background paper
you could use a numbered stamp set to stamp the numbers
around the cardstock then add the larger number either by stamping
or using your stampin cut & emboss machine to cut out your numbers.
Happy Stamping!

Vintage Crow Kits

Happy Sunday!
I show cased this vintage crow waaaayyy back
in 2011 and for some reason they are making their rounds on
Pinterest.
I have had messages asking how to make it or if I have
a kit available.
Now I do!
So if you are one who is wanting a full kit to make one message me.
They are $35 plus shipping which is around $7.50 to most areas of the US.
Muuuuwaaaahhhh!!!

BOO!!!

BOOOO!!
Back with the popular ghost(s) card.
This one is made by hand cutting out the ghost to
match the background paper.
And this background paper goes waaayyy back,
I can't even remember what it's called.

I have a stack of Halloween dsp paper and I always feel like
I can never get through all the paper each year so when I am
done with the holiday I have a folder filled with Halloween paper.
I decided to use what I have on hand, you know I always say this!

BOO to you!

Happy monday!
Have you noticed the ghost trend everywhere for the Halloween?
They are in all the stores on social platforms and they are just sooo cute!
I was going through my pile of Halloween paper and found this gem
with all the little ghosties on it and thought I make some cute cards
with it.

I ended up hand drawing the large ghost onto
white paper and hand drawing his eyes.
Take a look at what you have and see if you have anything that you
could make this card with.
The ghost you can cut out yourself, just find some
background paper you like.

The funny thing is,
when I finished this card and went out to the mailbox later
in the day my new Paper Pumpkin had arrived.
Upon opening it, it is Ghost themed!
So stayed tuned to see what the kit looks like in the next few days!
Muuuuuwaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!

Taxidermy Halloween Crow

Here's a fun little project for you to try for Halloween.
I had some left over scrapbook paper and a frame and the
crow you see, (I purchased the crows at the Dollar Tree)
The frame I had on hand but originally purchased it at
Home Goods.

Start by taking the backing of the frame off and adding the scrapbook paper.  I used some retired Halloween paper I had on hand.  You can use any type of paper you have.  I'm all about use what you have!

I'm going to use the numbers side,  I like how it lends to the "Nevermore" Edgar Allen Poe vibe.

Once the paper is in place take the styrofoam crow and using a knife
cute the crow at the base of it's neck.
(you could call this "murder of the crow"!  hahaaa!)
Which is an actual thing by the way!
A group of crows is called a "murder".  There are several explanations as to the origin, but mostly based on old folk tales.

It's extemely easy to cut as it's foam.

Hot glue the crow head directly onto the glass of the frame.
I stamped "happy halloween' on a piece of the vanilla
cardstock and used a couple dimensionals on the back to adhere it.

Here it is all done!

Not sure if I like the tag, but I sure love the crow!

Dollar Tree finds.....

You know how I love a good Dollar Tree find!
Friday while I was out I found these two lovelies.
When at the Dollar Tree it can be hit or miss and the quality
of things run the same.  These two picks of mine are
definitely a HIT!

Besides the towel being super cute,
it runs more on the side or microfiber material
which is great for the kitchen.

Here it is up close......
The netted wired pumpkin is a whole nother
level of adorable!
Cute and really nice quality,
wired pumpkin with orange mesh around it and black
netting for the leaves,  ANNDDDD...
it lights up!

In the very first picture you can see it not lit up,
the next three it is lit up.
The pumpkin comes in two other colors as well;
purple and black.
So so cute!!

If you don't have them at your local Dollar Tree or don't have a Dollar tree here is the link to order them.
They do have to be ordered online in units of 24,
sometimes when I order the boxed units I check with other friends to see if they'd like to split the box.  Of course each one is $1.25,
unless you need all 24, which some people do then I suggest splitting.
When I order a box I am using them as table gifts for my classes or my weekend craft getaways I always have swag bags that I fill and put these items in.
Here is the link HERE

Speaking of dahlia's.....

Happy thursday!
Today I wanted to share with you the new dahlia bulbs
I planted in May.
The colors couldn't be more spectaclar!

This happens to be my very favorite,
The top one of Mrtyle's Brandy and the bottom dark wine is
Karma Chocolate the only dahlia that has a
scent which by the way is CHOCOLATE!

Full vase of Mrytle's Brandy mixed with a pom pom red.
Such rich colors for fall.
Do you like dahlia's too?
How many bulbs do you have planted?

Dahlia Cake

I just had to share this most amazing dahlia cake my neighbor Carol made for her sweet granddaughter Hailey who was turning 7 a couple of weeks ago.   She made the most delish homemade cake and used the most beautiful dahlias from her garden to decorate the cake.
She let Hailey picked out all of the flowers to decorate it.

Once it was complete Hailey called me to come over to see their creation and share a piece with me!
It was so good and beyond a masterpiece!

Can you tell she likes pink?
They gave us quite a huge piece of cake to take home so I took a few of the dahlias off the cake and made a cute little bud vase with them.
What a way to make her 7th birthday so magical!

Bee-cause

Bee-cause you are such faithful followers I give you this easy
bee card with left overs from my Paper Pumpkin.
When I say you get soooo many extra pieces in these kits it's so true.
And what I find that I like is the stamp sets come with wonderful greetings that you can continue to incorporate in the cards moving forward.

Each piece you see is left over from some paper pumpkin with
the exception of the bee paper which we sold in last year's mini catty.
You can create a box or basket to put your extra pieces in.
This is something I do so that when I am stamping I can just pull the basket out to see what I have to add to my card.
Isn't she a bee-auty!
