Changes

Changes are a comin!
I hope to have my blog all changed over to
2340 West Newton by friday May 1st.
It's been a hard decision to make to do this and though I hope not
to lose some followers I feel this is the best way to commingle
my blog, instagram and etsy shop.
"which means to blend throughly into a harmonious whole"
Back in 2008 when I started this blog I chose
"Thoughts that Stick" name for fun.
Since opening my Etsy shop in late 2017 I decided
a good name for my shop would be the home address
I grew up at.  I really wanted to honor my parents and
the memories we shared in that home until I was in my teens.
So, it is time, time to bridge the accounts together.
It will be still the same little ole' me on here sharing the many ways to create beauty for you and your home.
I hope you will continue to follow along
and be inspired and encouraged along the way.
I love having you here with me!

Raised Garden bed

This weekend was a fun time to get a start on our extended garden.
You have seen from my previous posts my vegetable garden, well
I wanted to add herbs and sometimes herbs can take over a garden
so I went searching for a solution and found this adorable raised garden bed at Home Depot.

I decided on two of them so I could put them side by side.
The best thing is they can be ordered online and delivered or you
can pick them up with trunk delivery by staying in your car
making your purchase a safe one during the times we are in.

Here they are side by side.
Very sturdy, great for your herbs, veggies or flowers.
Made of a heavy resin, the color is a dark walnut.

Here it is up close, it has a cute little green tray for you
to do your starters and a very deep trough for the dirt.
Inside the trough in the bottom is the screen for water drainage
but look to the left at the skinny spout sticking up.....

It houses a cute little sprout inside of the
gauge that tells you when you need to water!
The little sprout pops up when the trough is dry!
How stinkin cute is that!

Here is the link to the garden bed at Home Depot
you won't be disappointed!

Garden update

Happy sunday friends!
Last week I shared with you the diy garden markers
that I threw together for my garden.
Since then,  I found out a way to remake them so I could write on them but not have the weather ruin them.
Also happy to share that everything I planted is up!
I am so excited to see the garden start to flourish!
So here we go......!

Above are the original ones,
I used the lid of a ball jar and a sharpie permanent
maker to write the names on the tag.

You will still start with the ball jar lids,
but this time punch out a 2" circle and hand write
the veggie on the circle.
Next step is to use some modge podge on a sponge
brush, lightly apply it to the back of the circle and attach
it to the ball lid.
Now go ahead and add one layer of the modge podge,
let it dry a few minutes and add another coat.

I also figured out a way to add the jar lids to the popsicle
stick by using E6000 glue to make them stick.
You don't want to use a hot glue gun on this project
as depending where you live once the sun
is out you won't want the sun to melt the
glue gun adhesive which it will in the direct sunlight.

Now they are ready to put them into the ground!

Here they are,
 all done!

Diy Garden Markers

Hello friends and happy saturday!
All the days are starting to blend in aren't they?
Are you antsy to get your garden started?
In our region of the PNW we still have to be careful when we plant our veggie gardens.  We can only do the hearty type variety right now.  Typically after Memorial day weekend is the best time around here for planting the rest of the veggies in the garden.

I spent the earlier part of the week getting this area ready for planting.  At the top of the picture is where I will be planting over
20 Dahlia tubers in the coming month.
My neighbor has a wonderfully massive collection of over 1000 dahlia bulbs in her yard so I am looking forward to purchasing some tubers from her.
After I planted my spinach, kale, snow peas, sugar peas, strawberries, I was trying to find a way to mark the veggies.
Since we are in quarantine mode I took a look at what I had
around the house and decided to use the lid of a ball jar.

This is what I made.....
super easy and used what I had.
If you don't have them, we can still go to the grocery stores and they are on the canning aisle.

To make them I used some craft wire I had on hand and a black permanent sharpie oil pen

For the veggies that don't require a trellis I just tucked
the lid in the ground for now,  I am trying to come up
with an idea to attach the lid to something to stick into the ground.

Here are the items you need to make these;
top of the page is what's called a crop-a-dile,
it is basically a hole punch for heavier duty material and also
sets brads but if you don't have one you can use a regular hole punch or a piercing tool.
So......
a hole punch
wire or twine
ball jar lid
scissors
sharpie permanent marker

Start by punch a hole in the lid

feed your wire or twine through the hole once and then back
through again to look like below....

After you feed it through twice twist it together
at the base so the top is still open so that you can
attach it to the trellis.

Now using your sharpie permanent marker
write your veggies on the front and start attaching
to your garden!
How easy and cute was that!
There you go,  weekend diy for you!

Who needs some enCOURAGEment?

Hi friends!
I've been sending out words of enCOURAGEment
to those I know need a lift with my tea towels.
Pray.wait.trust and Keep Calm the Lord will fight for you
are just a few of the most calming ones to surprise someone with.

We all have something we can share and do during this
outbreak, what can you do?
I challenged my team to find one thing they can do this week
to lift someone's spirits.
It's so important to stay connected right now, there are so many ways we can be doing this.

Put your minds to use by seeing how you can reach out to others to lift their spirits which will only in turn lift yours!

How can you do this?
It can be emails, zoom calls, texts, facetiming, dropping off at something off at someone's door step, writing snail mail, sending food to someone's home, dropping off groceries to someone.
This list goes on.
I challenge you to bless someone this week!

Now,  here's one towel I did NOT send out this week!
So sad that we cannot gather at this time.
I am missing people!
If you would like to pick up a towel for someone you can visit

Floating acrylic frames

Live from Seattle!
No really, I grew up in Seattle and now live 45 minutes nw of the city.  What I was looking for was line art of the city that I could frame in my guest bedroom.
I showed a few posts back how to find and print out these pieces of art just by goggling what images you are looking for.
This is a new one I most recently framed.

I love this print and how it showcases the Space Needle
To make these frames I ordered the acrylic frames and the screw back both from Amazon.  You can either order the frames with the holes in them already (cost is more)  or you can drill your own
holes which is what I chose to do.  When drilling on your own make sure you just measure the size of the screw back to the size of your drill bit.  When drilling acrylic add a piece of masking tape to the area you are going to drill first so that you don't crack the frame.  I measured in 1" on each side and drilled at that mark.

These are floating frames,
so the screws have two pieces to them which you can see in the picture below.  You screw the base piece into the wall first then
when you are ready to mount the framed the second piece goes through the hole of the frame and screws together to hold the frame
to the wall.
This is a really fun project for your to try.
And you can order everything online you need with us all being in quarantine.  Give it a try!
Here are the products I used;

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!
The tomb is empty!
This is the entrance to Antelope Canyon that we
adventured last April,  it made me think of the tomb
where Jesus was laid when we were entering.

This is as we exited....
My hope is that you are surrounded by the ones you love
today and find peace amidst the chaos we are all experiencing.
John 11: 25-26
Jesus said to her,  " I am the resurrection and the life.
The one who believes in me will live, even though
they die, and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.
Happy Easter friends.

Some card inspo for you....
and yes, it's the ever returning same stamp set!
I promise this is the last one for a loooong time!

I stamped a little mud around the boots
and add some mud to the fronts of the boots.
I hope you are liking this set!
