Family Traditions

The girls are home with their spouses, it's time to initiate them into
our family baking traditions!
It's so fun to pour into the next generation all the traditions of food and fun for the
holidays.
The boys were troopers jumping right into making our annual haul of cookies and treats.

Our background is a mixture of italian (husband) and scandinavian (me)
so we started off the christmas spritz cookies made as a butter cookie
that is made with design that you use a cookie gun to create.
Matt proved to be the best spritz cookie maker!

All smiles, maybe due to the heavy eating of cookie and treats!

We moved onto our third generation fudge making,
there's always a fight for who get to lick the spoons and bowl.

Does anyone else use "fluff" in their fudge?

Vintage ribbon chain

Let's get started!
Do you recall making paper chains in elementary school?
Well, it is a trend that is back whether you make paper
ones or ribbon.  I decided to try the ribbon style.
Start by choosing ribbon is three different coordinating colors
or styles.  This even goes for paper if that is what you choose.
My ribbon is 2" wide and 5" long.   Using a hot glue gun start
with the first circle and adding more as you go until you get your
chain as long as you like.
Now the fun part,  decorating using it!

This is my guest room that I decorated with the ribbon chain.....

I wanted this room to be cozy and peaceful.
I draped the ribbon chain over the bed and added
a candle, frame with photo and little deer candle.
I decided at the last minute to add the cream bows
to the chain, I think they look cute!

Added a cutie little tree and bell to the night stand

Love this vintagy manger picture.....

Seattle Christmas Market

Well this was magical!
Are you local and looking for something festive to do?
Head to Seattle to the Seattle center for the Christmas Market.
And calories don't count at Christmas right?

They had the most delish  "naughty" or "nice" drink,
can you guess which one I chose?

The whole Seattle center was glistening in lights....

All the vendor booths had incredible wares and decorated so authentically.

The food?  it was the bomb!
This was a most delicious baked potato....

There's a wishing forest you walked through and could write on a snowflake
your wish for the Christmas season.

There are so many spots with photo ops, this was the
holiday christmas tunnel.
It was a magical night!

Diy decoupage vintage jars

Do you save your old spaghetti or olive glass jars?
I do!
I never know what I might use them for.
I found these super cute vintage napkins at HomeGoods and knew
I wanted to use them for this project.

Napkins come with two layers, so you first will want to
separate the layers so you just have the one layer to
work with.

Just peel it away and set it aside.

Take your glass jar and using some acrylic paint, put two coats of
acrylic paint on the jar and let dry.
Get your modge podge out and begin to brush on the modge podge
adding the strip of napkin for coverage.

Keep going til it is covered....

Let dry and add some ribbon and twine.

Whipped Honey diy

Morning!
Looking for a fun quick and easy homemade gift for family, friends or co-workers?
These are so fun to make!
Get yourself some small ball jars, some honey and some ribbon or these cute rubber ribbons.
You can find these Michael's...
They look like this......

Aren't they adorable!

I printed out these cute labels for the tops, but you can easily
hand write homemade tags...

Now for the how-to's
Start with at least 3 cups of honey, put
into your stand up or hand mixer and mix for at least 1 minute
until white and fluffy.

This is how it looks at the beginning

I purchased my honey from Costco

Now pour it into your jars, you can see how much lighter
it is when it's whipped.

Make sure and wipe down the jars and put your lids on.

Add your labels and ribbons and now it's time to gift them!

Diy Dollar Tree frame makeover

I found these little frames complete with the beading at the Dollar Tree
and thought they would be great for a makeover. I got online and searched for a
image of a lamb and found this one with three little cuties.
Grab some glue and an image for a makeover.

Print out your image and cut to fit,  I used Tombow glue
to attach it to the inside of the frame.
Looks too cute!

Perfect little christmas picture!

Christmas packaging idea

Happy sunday!
Grab yourself a bag, some candy canes, some greens.
Let's get started!
Using your xacto knife, in the center of the bag cut two slits
on each side to create a pocket for your candy canes.

Slide some ribbon through the bag and tie a bow.  Now add the creme
christmas ornament and it looks evetter!
Fill the little pocket with some candy canes and add a little piece of  cedar greens
That's it!
You could also add some bells or pom poms to t he ribbon too.
