Petal Cone Heart

Hi all!  today's post is  a cute heart shaped treat holder made with the brand new petal cone die from our Mini Occasion catalog from Stampin Up!  Now I have to tempt you again with all the new product.  I will be posting the mini catalog January 4th and at that time you can order!  But anywho,  this die is actually a petal cone and I have just thought once I punched it out that is could become a heart too!  So here are a few photos showing you how I did this....

You will want to punch out two hearts,  use two 6 x 6 pieces of cardstock

once punched out fold with tabs inward and add adhesive to them and attach to make a heart.

It should look like this,  now start decorating.  I used a 2' x 12' piece of cardstock that I ran through the Big Shot die called Tasteful trim for the handle.  This makes a nice sized heart that you can fill with goodies or gift card or small gift.

Santa Baby....

I just returned from running to Costco and found a really good deal ladies!  This very large resin Santa is on sale there for $5.97!  Yes!  you read that right!  I personally am not fond of gold items so I brought him home and used my metallic silver spray paint on him.  It cracks me up that the box says "Santa Bust"  too funny!

This is what he looks like fresh out of the box for those of you who do like the goldtones...

Here he is sprayed silver!  either way he looks great and all for $5.97!  Gotta love it!  xoxo

Melting Snowman sugar cookies

Been doing a little baking today.... the girls made these cute little sugar cookies.  You will use your basic sugar cookie recipe and frost them with any powdered sugar icing recipe.  After you frost them you will take a large marshmellow and cut it in half.  We put about 10 marshmellows  on a plate at once and put them in the microwave for 30 seconds,  just long enough for them to get a bit gooey.  Then put them on top of the frosting and add the nose and eyes and buttons.  We used sprinkles from a halloween sprinkle kit.  Aren't they just adorable!  xoxo

Peacock Ornament

So I think I have mentioned that we have a real live peacock in our yard.  It has been roaming our cul de sac for 3 years now, and sheds these beautiful peacock feathers.   I decided to go a bit "green" for the holdiays and use them to create these simple ornaments.  And aren't they fabu!  Who knew they would make such a beautiful simple ornament!  I bought the large flat glass ornaments at the local craft store and rolled the feathers up and dropped them in the hole.  Shake them around just a bit and they will lay flat inside the ornament.  Easy!   xoxo

Christmas Ornaments

Check out these cute ornaments!  They are made with 4 inch styrofoam balls.

Here's what you need:  4 inch styrofoam balls, 1 sheet of 12 x 12 inch scrapbook paper, a scallop punch. You will use the entire sheet of 12 x12 for this project.   Punch out as many scallop circles as you can from the sheet of paper.  Heat up your glue gun.  Take the scallop circles and fold them in half and then in half the other way, then in half one more time.  See photo below to see how it should look.

Then take all folded scallop circles and start glueing them to the styrofoam ball until it is all covered.  You will then take a ribbon of your choice and cut it at 9 inches long.  Take a sewing pin and pin it to the ball. Cut another piece of ribbon 5 inches long and tie a bow and add to the ornament.  That's it!  These come out so cute and are quite large once completed.  Have fun making these!  xoxo

Gift Card Holders

Morning Ladies! Check out the cute vintage gift cards I found, arent' they cute!Here are some quick easy gift card holders made out of the large clear Big Shot circle die. Take your cardstock and fold in half over the circle to cut to give you the fold then take a piece to make the half pocket for the gift card to slide into.  Attach the half pocket with adhesive and started decorating.  The tab at the top is just a 1/2 inch piece of cardstock folded over and attached with our glittzy brads. Christmas Happenings....

One of our favorite Holiday traditions is going to the Pacific Northwest Ballet's Nutcracker, this is my very best favorite scene.  It was beautiful!  The girls loved it and no one fell asleep!

We then ventured on to Downtown Seattle for all the fesitivites they have there, here are a few:

visting Santa...

Visting the Teddy Bear Room at the Fairmont,  a must!  and complimentary! (always good!)

The Sheraton has the Gingerbread houses again this year the houses benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Northwest Chapter.  The display is complimentary too!  but they do like donations!

We moved on to the Macy's star and the Westlake Center tree lighting.

and writing letters to Santa to be delivered to the North Pole. xoxo

Winters Tale

So I mentioned that I am on the Design Team for Pockets of Inspirations, here is a short video teaser of the lastest publication for December.

Elf on a Shelf- A Family Tradition

Good Morning!  I wanted to share a fun family tradition you can start with your families.  My girlfriend Susan told me about this and thought it would be fun to share.  It turns out that there is a book and elf you can find at your local malls or online but when I went to search for it I found the elf to look a little "scary" !  for me   I wanted a cute elf.  So off to Target I went and found this cutie for $3.99.  I added some ink to his face for cheeks and sprayed him with glitter.  You can see the "real" elf on the shef" in a picture below...

Anywho here's how it works:

The Elf on the Shelf children's book written by the mother/daughter team of Carol V. Aebersold and Chanda A. Bell is a wonderful tradition to start with your children. The book tells the story of a secret elf who comes to stay with your family for Christmas to keep an eye out for naughty or nice behavior..
Bring the book and the elf out around Thanksgiving and read the story to your children or grandchildren and introduce the elf to them. You will be asked by the book to name the elf. After you finish that you can go the elfontheshelf.com and register your elf's new adopted name.

The book tells the story of an elf that Santa has sent to keep an eye on the children's behavior. Each night the elf uses his magic to go back the north pole and give a report, when he comes home each night he finds a new hiding place in the house, so use your creativity when finding new and unique hiding places for him. It is fun to watch the kids race around each morning to find his new location.

Explain to kids that each year after Christmas the elf will return to the North Pole to help Santa get ready for the next year's Christmas so that you can pack him away until next year, though he could make periodic checkup throughout the year to ensure good behavior.

Isn't this a fun little thing to keep those little ones behaviors in check!  Our elf came to visit two days ago and keeps showing up all over the house!  Have fun  with this!  xoxo

Here's the real mccoy, vintagy but not cute enough! maybe that's what he's suppose to do!  Scare the kids into being good!  Ha hahahaa!  

Tile Necklaces

So here are the other necklaces I have been working on. These are made with scrabble tiles!  The images I just found online and cut them to fit the tile, used some basic black ink and sponged the edges then added crystal effects to it and added a little dazzling diamond glitter and let dry.  Once dry you add the jewelry bail to the back of the tile with a little dot of crystal effects. I chose a velvet chain for the one necklace and then  a snake type chain for the other.

The one on the right is hard to see but it is a really cute bird with a crown on it's head....

Snowflake Lane and Botanical Gardens

Spent the evening at Bellevue's Snowflake lane.  . It’s a nightly display along the sidewalks of Bellevue Way and NE 8th Street of dazzling lights, music, dramatic drumming from live toy soldiers and magical snow that falls from the sky!  And it's complimentary!  All the better!

We also went over to the Botanical gardens....

The enormously popular Garden d’Lights festival features over ½ million lights which transform the Bellevue Botanical Gardens into a blossoming winter wonderland.  This is a must see for the holiday,  this used to be complimentary but have changed to charging an admission this year.  $5.00 for adults and kids 10 and under free.  You will love this!  xoxo

Bottle Cap Necklaces

Here's what were making today!  Bottle cap necklaces!  Here's what you need:

Crystal Effects, Designer paper, bottle caps, metallic spray paint, dazzling diamond glitter, ribbon for necklaces, (I used the SU! 1/2' Lace black trim and the little bead chain necklace.  (can be found at local craft store.  So here they are:

The first is made by taking the bottle cap and lightly spraying the back side only with metallic silver or flat silver spray paint.  Let dry. When dry take a 1/8' punch and punch a hole in the top of bottle cap for your jump hoop to go thru.  Punch hole and add the jump hoop. Take your designer series paper, I used the Candy Cane Christmas.  Use a 1 3/4 circle punch and then glue to the inside of the bottle cap.  Take the crystal effects, (don't have any?  you can order it right from my site to the left.)  squirt just enough to cover the inside of cap, then shake a little giltter in the center and let dry, drys in 20 minutes but I like to wait on hour.  Add your bead chain.

This next one the steps are the same but a few changes since I want this to be for an adult rather than little kiddo.  I used a jewelry bail on the bottle cap that I attached at the back with the crystal effects.  You want to use just a little of the crystal effects as you don't want the glue all goobery.  (is that a word?!) anywho... the image I just found online it's a lttle bird and chandelier.  Love it! I added the lace trim as the necklance.  I tied a few knots throughtout the necklace strand as well.   Here are a few more pictures.
