Good Morning!
We decided on a whim to do a road trip a few weeks ago to Yellowstone. Neither my husband nor I had ever been so we packed
up the car and drove thursday from Washington to Wyoming.
Took us 11 hours to get there but so worth it!
We arrived and stayed in Big Sky Montana at a resort
there and that night there was a concert in the Village
called Soul Shine and the most beautiful sunset.
If you look right below the sun you will see the peak of Lone Mountain, that's where we drove up to stay after the concert.
A delish little treat after such a long haul.
They had food trucks and every kind
of libation scattered around the venue.
We even took in some Huckleberry vodka lemonade.
The backdrop of this venue was spectacular.
Big Sky is one hour from Yellowstone park, so we got up friday
at 6am and made our way to the park.
We were told by so many people that we would have long lines throughout the park and long waits to see things.
We literally breezed through the park all day long. It was very quiet.
I had no idea there was a Grand Canyon of Yellowstone,
You can see the falls above our heads here and
here it is below.
It truly looked like a picture til you got closer.....
The Grand Canyon Yellowstone Falls
What would a trip to Yellowstone be without visiting
Old Faithful?
She goes off almost 20 times a day like clock work.
Here are some of the pictures from the river
we passed throughout the park throughout different
times of the day. We saw so much wildlife too,
the bison had us held up for a good half hour as they
herded their pack across the road.
Almost every part of the river you passed throughout the park
had fly fisherman in them.
This is the Travertine Terraces of the Mammouth Hot Springs
The liquid pouring down them is sulfuric acid.
Very hot and very dangerous, but so stunning
and bright white and browns.
I believe it's limestone....
For being in the park one day, we were able to reach every
landmark that are on the top 15 to see. We breezed our way
to each one marveled at each new element and beauty.
We felt like when we left the park at 9pm we had
seen everything that you would want to see.
Of course you could spend days in the park
hiking and exploring some of the smaller lesser
know areas which we will most likely go
back to see one day.
Here's another up close.
Bison viewing,
and then up close and personal
We left the park that night and had pizza
at Wild West Pizza right at the west entrance
of the park. Great place with live county music
and good food. We headed back to Big Sky
and crashed for the night for our big drive home yesterday.
It was a very quick one day visit in the park with two days of
driving but SOOO worth it.
We will go back and hopefully spend more time adventuring through the park. What an amazing place!
