Graduation cards

Getting ready for some upcoming grads in our family.  Seems early but they are happening early May.  

I just cut the black banner out and embossed in white to create the cute hanging banner. 

I stamped the inside using stamps from past Paper Pumpkins

Just when you thought the Bike Ride was over, it is continuing!

For this one, you want to stamp the bike all over the front of the card.

The flower bouquet comes in the set.  I stamped it and fussy cut it out to attach to the front of the card.

Filling your feed with more of cuteness overload for spring!

This set just reeks of happiness.

This card is very easy.   Stamp off the bike to the side of the cardstock.  Then stamp the flowers and color them in with stampin write markers and add the any type of washi tape at the bottom.

Sharing Bike Ride with you today,  be prepared,  we are going to be on Bike Ride overload the next few posts!  This cute set looks so springy that I had to make a few cards with it.

I showed how to make the fold of this card a few posts back, it's quite easy.   Just cut a regular card at 4 1/2" x 5 1/2"   Once cut trim 2 1/4" off one of the side and fold over.  

 This creates the peak in the card,

The bike ride set come with all the coordinating pieces to stamp and cut out.  I used a few pieces to add to the bike for dimension.

The background paper behind the bike is call Wood Textures. 

The black and white polka dot is washi tape.

I used stampin dimensionals to pop up the pieces.

DIY Marble Bathroom Counter

Happy monday morning friends!

So you saw at my last post I tried this faux marble technique on my counter in my studio and just loved how it turned out!

I decided to try it on my bathroom laminate counter that is VERY dated and love it equally.

It really brighten up this space

In much need of updating.

And did you know you can paint laminate?

When I researched this online I couldn't wait to try it

This lovely brown marble counter is more than 25 years old, it was in the house when we moved in. 

 So glad to be getting rid of the look.

I started by lightly sanding the counter with an electric sander.

Once done wipe clean and let dry before you move on to the next step.   The next step is to prime it with two coats of primer. 

 I used 1-2-3- primer for multiple surfaces.

After your two coats of primer is on and dry move onto two coats of white Rustoleum semi-gloss paint.

With both the primer and paint I used a small roller brush to apply them with.  

 It creates a nice smooth look when you use the sponge brush.

Now moving on to the marbled effect.  I used apple barrel acrylic paint that you buy at the craft store.

 I bought a light gray and a black

This is the final of the three steps before having to put a polycrylic on top for protection.

DIY Marble Counter top

So this is my "lovely" island in the center of my studio.  It has had this counter top for years and I just have always wanted to change it out.  So, I took to doing some research on how to paint laminate counter tops.  I found out it is super easy to do!

I first sanded the counter top and then put two coats of primer on top.  I usually wait an hour between each coat.  Once the primer is dry I used Rustoleum white semi-gloss paint over the top, two coats.

It's a three step process.

Once it's all dry I added two coats of a satin polycrylic.

Here is what it looks like all finished, I have to say I love how it turned out!

Brightened up the room tremendously!

March 2018 Paper Pumpkin Wood Embellishments

This is how many cards I was able to make with all the wood embellishments from the free gift in this month's paper pumpkin.

  There are so many pieces in the two wood sheets you received.

I used the Wood Textures designer paper on all the cards I made.

I attached the wood elements with Tombow permanent glue.

I had some extra pearl embellishments left over from the paper pumpkin that I added to a few of the cards.

For the deer cards I used the Owl punch.  I punched out the owl body and cut off the feet and ears to make the deer head. 

You can see a little better in this photo the small pearl embellishments.

Most everything used on the cards are left over pieces from past paper pumpkins, including the stamps and ribbon. 

Look through your past pumpkins.  I know you have left over pieces you have just waiting to be put to use.
