Stitching away

Well who couldn't get any more excited about fall and halloween!
I can't help myself when the stores are already putting out fall/halloween decor!
And so goes my stitching......
I'm working on this little halloween cutie, almost done and then will decide what I will do with it.

My Hubs and I went on a little road trip this weekend to tub down one of our state's rivers so I tucked this away in my bag to work on on the drive.
So quick and easy to stitch and will be such a cute addition to my Halloween decor!
Anyone else getting as excited for the fall?

Rooted in Nature

Getting a little creative over here with the new Rooted in Nature set
Very organic and natural

I posted a  little while back on how to stamp a wreath in a circle with a similar leaf stamp check HERE
for how to do this.
I did the same technique on this card.  Using the sprig stamp
I stamped in a circle returning each time for more ink to get a solid stamp, then stamping off once and going over areas to add lighter
sprigs

The background is made with a stamp called
Burlap.  It is a very large background stamp that covers the entire 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of cardstock

This is the sprig I used from the set.  The set is a two package set with lots of great pieces to use.
I also used the Just for You from it as well.

Raspberry Bars

How about a guilt free treat for you to try?
Those that know me know that I LOVE chocolate!
Well,  my girls have announced that they would prefer to eliminate gluten and dairy from the things they are eating, by choice
not because they have to.
I have always been a baker and comfort food cooker, so switching gears is definately a challenge for me!
I have quite a bit of raspberries I picked that I wanted to use
for  dessert and looked for a Vegan/Gluten free bar

This recipe is Vegan/Gluten free Raspberry Bars

Raspberry Bars

Base layer
1 1/4 c of oat flour or coconut flour
1 1/4 c of rolled oats
3/4 c maple syrup
1 T coconut oil
1/2 tsp of vanilla

Jam center
3 c of frozen rasp
5 T of maple syrup
6 T of Chia seeds

Crumble
1 c rolled oats
1/2 c of steel cut oats
1/4 c maple syrup
1/4 c cashew butter
1 T of coconut oil

Starting with a brownie pan, line it with parchment paper.
In a bowl mix all the ingredients (listed above) for the base layer.
Once mixed together, using a wooden spoon spread into pan and bake at 350 degrees for 15 mins

While the base layer is baking
Put the 3 c of raspberries and the maple syrup into a a saucepan and on medium heat bring to a boil and turn to simmer, now adding the chia seeds.  Let simmer for 10 mins til thickens

Once the base layer is cooled, spread the
"jam" over the layer and set aside.

Mix all the ingredients for the crumble together and bake for
25 mins at 350 degrees until crispy.
Let cool and put on top
of the jam layer
Cut and enjoy!!!

For a girl who loves her sweets, not bad for a super healthy treat!

Creative Class

Today is creative class!
Here are the projects we are making this morning
Can you see a theme here?
Everything here is Lavender!

The first is a vintage Lavender wood sign
I stained the wood in a dark walnut for a different look
than I have used before

Next up is floating candles decorated
in either a farmhouse decor or
with fresh Lavender

I have harvested so much Lavender in the last few weeks I thought
it would be fun to make lavender sugar

And last but not least Lavender syrup
I showed you how to make this a few posts back

Lavender syrup recipe HERE

I found some adorable glass containers for the class
a little different than these pictured.
It's fun to make and super easy too.

Love to have you join us!
Classes are once a month on fridays
Message me if you are interested

Sweet Tea

We are having record heat here in the Pacific Northwest
Which calls for sweet tea!
My husband is from the east coast and LOVES his tea
He has been begging me to make some good ole' fashioned
tall glass of goodness.  I always love hearing from you all, so if you have a special recipe please share with me.

Here's my recipe;
8 tea bags
16 cups of water
one sliced fresh lemon
one cup of syrup
1c of water - 1 c of sugar
(bring to a boil til dissolved)

Put it all in a large clear container and let sit in the sun 3-4 hours
Chill in the frig and enjoy!

This is the syrup
Bring to a boil until sugar is all dissolved
(about 10 mins)

Do you have any tea secrets to share?
love to hear them!
