Valentine Treats

Happy saturday!
I haven't even put away my Christmas decor yet,
(happening sunday I hope!)
yet I received this adorable owl stamp set in the mail and
knew I had to make something cute for Valentine's day
with it, seems a bit early!

These little containers are called "sour cream" treat holders,
easy to make.  Cut a piece of designer paper 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".
See below,  add adhesive to one of the short sides and
a quarter of the long side.

Peel away the film over the adhesive and roll the paper
to mimic a toilet paper roll.

Now remove the film from the adhesive on the other side
and close the top.

It should look like this.....

add adhesive to the other side and close, make sure when you close
the other side you close it opposite of the other side.

It should look like this, one side goes one way and
the other the other way.

Here's a couple of other angles to see how it should look.

Using the stamp set I stamped the owls and cut them out as
well as punched out a heart image.  On the owl below I used a exacto knife to cut away the owl's wing to slip the heart under.

Once the containers are done use a hole punch to punch out the top to add ribbon to.

I added some Valentine treats to the containers, the sky's the limit on what you can fit inside them.

I didn't color the owl's in too much, just used Balmy Blue ink pad for the eyes and Crumb Cake for the beak and legs.
For a little glitz I added some dazzling diamonds to the hearts and eyes.

This stamp set will be available to you for FREE starting January 5th-28th of Febuary by just placing an order fof $50 or more from either the annual catalog or mini catalog.
It's our annual Sale-a-bration where you earn free stampin up! products for every $50 spent!

Christmas tablescape

Well, I totally forgot to post this one!
I had to laugh because three of the girls in my extended family
sent me videos showing me how to make these christmas tree
napkins, I felt the pressure!
So I made them up for our Christmas eve dinner.

I have NEVER ever hosted for Christmas eve,
my entire life it has been at my Dad's, and then
when my Dad and his wife bought a house in Arizona
they continued hosting at my sisters house.  But this year she was in Australia with her husband and my Dad's wife had knee surgery so it was me!!!
It always feels a little different when our traditions are changed up,
but overall really nice day just being together.

I chose this year to embace my scandinavian heritage by
decorating in a more natural neutral style.

I brought the outdoors in by bringing by using some
cedar trimmings in the middle of the table, some candles,
wood beads and dried oranges.  Pretty basic and easy.
Used all the things I had on hand,
which I always tell you all to do!!

Hope you all had a wonderfully memorable Christmas season!

Annual Christmas Luncheon

Aaaannd ......that's a wrap!
Another year in the books!
We have figured out that we have been getting together for 24+ years for this annual Christmas luncheon with our girlies.
They were so little when we first got together, most of us gals

And though we have lost one to a move (Susan G.)
we contine to get together with our adult girls all ranging
in ages from 18 now to 28!

The girls L to R
Ashley 19, Brittanie 28, Shelby 27, Shae 21,
Kelly 23, Katie 18.
We were missing Amy 22

We have always started our day with a delish lunch and a full charcuterie dessert board with every yummy cookie and chocolates.

Now that the girls are able to have drinks we made these cran-orange mimosa drinks and played minute to win it games.
As always we take a picture of each of the Mom's and their daughter's

Do you have any traditions that you do each holiday season?
As old are our girls are getting they truly look forward to this
get together as much as we do!
We will take it for as long as we can!

Fairmont High Tea

This is the beautiful Fairmont Olympic hotel
in downtown Seattle.
It has recently been renovated and has been
designed with a new mid-century modern vibe.

The above is an area of the tea room that I thought
looked so stunning and below is the entrance to the
Fairmont, they have added a new bar right in the center of
the entry.  So moody and cozy.

This was in the tea room,
the place setting and menu.
The food was fabulous!
Since my girls are young adults instead of doing the
traditions of the past we thought it would be fun to
start a new tradition in place of all the old ones.

The girls and I.....

They bring you out each a three tiered tray with sooo many goodies and treats on it.
The first tier had desserts with pumpkin spice cake, red velvet cake, cranberry orange macaron, fruitcake and peppermint fudge.
The second tier were the sandwiches which consisted of;
Bay Shrimp on endive, salmon lox, roast beef sandwich, virgina ham sandiwth, truffled free-range egg salad sandwich, english cucumber sandwich
(since I am highly allergic to seafood they were so accomodating in bringing my things separately and adding what other sandwiches I could eat)
The bottom tier was a large english scone with marionberry jam, devonshire cream and lemon curd.
Everything was so good!!!

The large scone, I ate it all!

my girlies and I sipping our tea.....

We went onto walking in downtown Seattle to see all the lights and take in a few festive sights around the city.
Such a great new tradition to add to our holiday!

Mini Chalkboard

Check out these mini cute chalkboards standing at a mere
4" tall.  The wood on them is raw and can be stained.
What I used were the pipe cleaners that resemble pine.

Decide which pipe cleaners you will want to use, I like
the thinner one.  I also used some red ribbon and taped it to the back of the chalkboard.  I chose not to hot glue anything to the chalkboard
so that it isn't permanment so that I can change it up if wanted.

So take your pipe cleaner and create a small wreath, using
the ribbon loop it through and tape it to the back.
Now tie a bow and glue that to the front of the wreath.

I used a piece of white cardstock and punched out
a 1 3/8" circle and stamped "joy" and used a removable
adhesive to attache it to the chalkboard.

Some little rustic bells were added to the bottom
of the bow that I found in my craft drawer.
It completed the look.

I used an antique wax on the wood to stain it.

Loving it!
So cute!

For this project I did not adhere anything with hot glue with the exception of the bow and bells.  I want to be able to use this little mini
board for other up coming holidays.
The mini chalkboards can be found
